St. Peter’s Parish will hold its 2012 Annual Meeting in Edwall Hall, immediately following a 9:30 am single liturgy on Sunday, January 22nd. A potluck lunch will facilitate the transition from Eucharist to Annual Meeting. Potluck sheets are circulating now, so help us plan by signing up to bring your specialty.
Old St. Peter’s Moved to Green Hills
In the wee hours of October 24th, Old St. Peter’s was moved through the streets of San Pedro, to Green Hills Memorial Park. San Pedro’s first church, originally located on Nob Hill, was moved to Beacon Street early on, when the town was rearranged to accommodate the LA Harbor. St. Peter’s built a much larger church at 1648 W. 9th Street in 1954, and the original 1884 building was given to the City of Los Angeles, which accorded it Historic Building status and moved it to Harbor View Cemetery in 1956. Green Hills Memorial Park offered to restore and give a permanent home to the historic wood structure, and had the building moved to a foundation laid in the south portion of the Park, where it will be used for small weddings and memorial services.

Watch this space for the 2012 dates, so that you can join members of the St. Peter’s family on our yearly pilgrimage to sun, sand, and surf on the Santa Barbara County coast. We invite you to join us for this fun, relaxing, and delicious weekend parish gathering. Please contact the office for more details. See pictures from a past camping trip below.
This is a tent-camping trip to a county park in Santa Barbara County.
Remember, a family, for family camping purposes, can be one to a dozen people, and a carful can come from more than one family. Please contact the church if you would like to share a ride or if you need to borrow camping equipment. There are extra tents and other equipment “out there” to be borrowed. Full instructions on driving, checking in, etc., will be provided to those who sign up.
Jalama Beach and Campsite
- Eucharist at the Camp: Mother Cindy Voien and Father Richard Rowe lead a special Eucharist, as some of the children of St. Peter’s look on and participate.

Taize Worship will move to Thursday nights at 7:00 during Lent. Join us for a half hour of candlelit meditation and prayer, after our 6:00 pm Lenten Series meeting. The simple, contemplative, chant-like music of the Taizé community, alternating with peaceful silence, will feed your soul. Taizé is a non-denominational service and everyone is welcome.
